As a family caregiver, you provide a home, a close relationship and care to someone who needs them. In Helsinki, we provide family care for children and young people placed into care, as well as for elderly people and clients of disability services.
Your role as a family caregiver is shaped by the individual needs of the person you are caring for and the guidelines and policies of the department responsible for the care. You will receive compensation for the care you provide in this commissioned role. As a family caregiver, you are not self-employed or employed by the City of Helsinki, but the City will cover some of your living costs and care expenses.
