Have your say at the Mayor’s Residents’ Evenings
Do you feel your residential area and services are moving in in the right direction? What do you think about how your district has been developed? Mayor’s residents’ evenings are a forum for neighbourhood residents and representatives of the city to meet and have a dialogue about current topics in the district in question.
The evenings follow safe-space principles that create a respectful and inclusive atmosphere that is free of discrimination, harassment and violence.
Various resident associations and public interest organisations in the district act as collaborative partners in organising the event.
An invitation is sent out in the post to each of the residents in the area, and a video summary of the evening is available for viewing online on the Helsinki Channel shortly after the event.
No advance registration is required.
Everyone that has received an invitation is welcome to participate.
Residents can submit comments and questions in advance through a Voice your Opinion -service.

Mayor’s residents’ evening in Östersundom on 8 October
Mayor Daniel Sazonov will visit Östersundom in October to listen to local residents. The Mayor’s residents’ evening will be held at Sakarinmäki Comprehensive School on Thursday 8 October at 18.00–19.30. Comments and questions can be submitted in advance via a KerroKantasi survey.
The Mayor’s residents’ evening provides an opportunity for the City to hear directly from residents about the issues that are being discussed in the area and what residents’ hopes are for the future of Östersundom. The Mayor’s residents’ evening will be held at Sakarinmäki Comprehensive School (Knutersintie 924) on Thursday 8 October 2026 at 18.00–19.30.
"It's great to have the opportunity to discuss the development of the Östersundom area, as well as its future as a part of Helsinki, with local residents. The city's decision-making bodies will begin consideration of the new Östersundom local master plan planning process this autumn, which makes the residents' evening discussions very timely and important," said Helsinki Mayor Daniel Sazonov.

Mayor's residents' evening in Östersundom to be held in two languages
The event will be hosted by Bilingual Communications Specialist Casper Almqvist.
“I hope that as many people as possible will take advantage of this opportunity and ask to speak. The Mayor’s residents’ evening is a great opportunity to ask decision-makers questions about matters concerning your own neighbourhood. Questions can be asked in both Finnish and Swedish,” says Almqvist.
Borough Liaison for the Eastern Major District Marjaana Jaranne, who also serves as the borough liaison for Östersundom, will also be attending the residents’ evening.
“Östersundom is going through an interesting phase of development. The area is being planned and built as part of Helsinki’s urban structure, taking into account residents’ wishes,” says Jaranne.
The City’s borough liaisons help residents participate in the development of their residential area by supporting dialogue between residents, communities and City staff.
