Tram line 10 to return to its route
In Kaartinkaupunki, tram route 10 will return to its normal route on Yrjönkatu on Monday 28 September. The traffic arrangements on Merimiehenkatu and Punanotkonkatu will return to normal at the same time.
Yrjönkatu will also reopen to vehicles between Punanotkonkatu and Merimiehenkatu. Next to the building site, traffic is still being directed by temporary road signs. The junction of Korkeavuorenkatu and Ullanlinnankatu, opposite Koulupuistikko, will still remain closed to traffic.
Renovation work on water mains and sewer and gas pipes is continuing in the area as part of the Koulupuistikko Square renovation. In October, installation work of planters and paving will be carried out in the square. The construction site’s estimated completion time is by the end of the year.
Access to the Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki will remain open throughout the construction.

The end of Yrjönkatu in front of the Architecture and Design Museum to be closed for a month for renovation
Various works are underway on Yrjönkatu in Kaartinkaupunki, including water supply works, while Koulupuistikko square is being renovated to create a pleasant public space where residents can spend time. For this reason, the section of Yrjönkatu between Punanotkonkatu and Merimiehenkatu will have to be closed to traffic for the duration of September.
Water mains, gas pipes and sewer pipes running beneath Yrjönkatu are being renovated. For this reason, the road will have to be dug up across its entire width at the construction site. The work will take four weeks. If the work is completed sooner than expected, the road will be reopened as soon as the surface works are finished.
Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd will also replace tram tracks in the same area during the closure.
You can get around the construction site via the following routes: Ratakatu–Annankatu–Laivurinrinne–Tarkk'ampujankatu or Ratakatu–Korkeavuorenkatu–Pieni Roobertinkatu–Kasarmikatu.
There will be signs on site indicating the alternative routes for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Access to Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki will remain open throughout the construction.
The stops of tram line 10 between Kolmikulma and Tarkk'ampujankatu will be out of service during the maintenance work.

Area in front of Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki on Korkeavuorenkatu to be renovated into a pleasant space
The area in front of Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki (Korkeavuorenkatu 23) in Kaartinkaupunki has been part of a summer street pilot for several years. Following the positive feedback received from the pilots, [HD1.1]Koulupuistikko square is now being transformed into a place where city residents can enjoy themselves all year round.
Construction will begin on 3 August and is expected to last until mid-December. As a result of the renovation, the square will gain more seating areas, new greenery and improved lighting. The completed square will also serve as a venue for events.
The renovation has been planned with pedestrians in mind. The area in front of Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki, at the junction of Korkeavuorenkatu and Merimiehenkatu, will be closed to motor traffic and parking. At the same time, municipal infrastructure will be upgraded between the Ullanlinnankatu junction and Punanotkonkatu and on Merimiehenkatu between Yrjönkatu and Korkeavuorenkatu.
Changes to routes and parking
Traffic and parking in the area will change as the works progress. Information on the temporary arrangements will be provided on-site via signage. Access to Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki will remain open throughout the construction.
The project involves work in the vicinity of the tram tracks, and due to water supply works being carried out on the tracks, tram services will be suspended, initially for the duration of September. HSL will provide information on alternative traffic arrangements and the exact time of the suspension separately.
The work carried out in the area will generate noise and dust from time to time. The aim is to carry out the work in such a way that the impact on the environment and local operators is kept to a minimum.
