How can you move in with us, and how much does it cost?
You can move in with us following an assessment of your service needs.

If you receive a positive decision, we will draw up a care and service plan with you. Your services may include meals delivered to your home, as well as services related to treatment, care and medication.
You will pay rent for your apartment and separately for the services you require.

What is it like to live at Nostalgia?
At Nostalgia, you can live your daily life in your own way. You can also participate in the communal activities of the senior centre, including the exercise and culture activities. We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You are always welcome to our communal activities, but you can just as well spend time by yourself when it feels like a better alternative.
Facilities and accessibility
The Nostalgia Communal Housing Unit is located in accessible facilitieds on the fifth to seventh floors of the Töölö Senior Centre.

- Moving between the areas is easy.
- The yard is peaceful and uncluttered.
The facilities support a safe and smooth daily life.
Your room – your home
You will have your room with your own bathroom and kitchen space. The room is your home, and you can decorate it with your own furniture, textiles and important belongings. This makes the environment feel familiar and safe.
Common areas
The common lounging room and dining areas allow you to:
- spend time with the other residents
- participate in joint activities
- meet your loved ones
You can also use our sensory room, which provides calming and refreshing sensory experiences, or our bright gym, where exercising is safe. Your loved ones are also welcome to use the common areas.
Meals
You can enjoy your meals in the common dining area with the others or in your own room. We take your meal preferences and your individual needs into consideration.
Garden and local environment
The parks, cultural landscapes and vicinity of the sea make the environment more comfortable and widen the possibilities for outdoor activities. We often spend time outdoors on our beautiful, garden-like yard with a cosy gazebo.
Nearby you’ll also find:

Being outdoors and the natural environment support your wellbeing and give meaning to your everyday life.
What is everyday life like with us?
Your daily life is shaped according to your own daily routine. Your day might include:
- moments of rest and time to yourself
- joint activities
- basic care and support
We organise recreational and outdoor activities, for example. You can decide for yourself which activities you’d like to participate in. A printed copy of the weekly programme is always available at the unit.
Information for family members and loved ones
Your loved ones can visit you at their convenience. We are well served by public transport. We don’t have our own parking spaces, but there are some paid parking spaces along the street.
Guests can:
- spend time with you in your room or in the common areas
- bring snacks and enjoy them with you
- visit the Onerva restaurant downstairs with you. The restaurant is open on weekdays at 8-15 (lunch 11-13.30). You can find the lunch menu here(Link leads to external service)
- bring a pet along, but please arrange this with the staff in advance.
Your loved ones can also take you out for a walk or to visit friends and family. Please let the staff know if you are planning to be away from home for a longer period of time.

Our multi-disciplinary team supports your everyday life.
- Your appointed nurse will be by your side and take care of all your day-to-day needs.
- Practical nurses and nurses ensure your day-to-day care and wellbeing.
- Your doctor is responsible for your medical care.
- A social instructor can help you with matters related to services and life circumstances.

The route to the main entrance
- The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.
- The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide and illuminated and it uses movement-guiding surface material.
The main entrance
- The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated. There is a canopy above the entrance.
- The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with a motion sensor.
In the facility
- The customer service point is located on floor 5.
- For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair; the door opens automatically. The floor numbers in the lift cannot be felt with fingers. The button for the exit floor stands out from the other buttons. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
- The doors in the facility stand out clearly.
- The facility has a toilet marked as accessible on floor 5. The toilet seat lacks arm supports on one or both sides.
