We are conducting a survey on the experiences of violence in close relationships among Helsinki residents aged 18 and over. You can respond to the survey anonymously until 9 October 2026. Every response helps us develop services and strengthen support for all those affected by violence and their loved ones.

Housing services for the elderly

We provide a range of housing, care, and rehabilitation services, as well as engaging day activities, at the city's senior centres and service homes. You can also apply for a place in a private service home with our support.

Your apartment can be located in a private service home from which we outsource 24-hour service housing. The care and services are the same.
Applying for housing services for the elderly
If you can no longer live at home with the support of home care, you can apply for a place in communal housing or 24-hour care in senior centres or service homes.
Service housing service voucher calculator
We can provide you with a service voucher so you to purchase service housing yourself. The calculator gives you an estimate of the copayment remaining after the service voucher.

The service centres and day activity services at senior centres offer meaningful activities and peer support for seniors in various life situations.
Home care
You can apply for home care if you are unable to live in your home independently or with the help of your close relatives and friends. You can also receive temporary home care if your ability to function becomes temporarily impaired.
Care options during the caregiver's statutory leave days
As an informal caregiver, you are entitled to 2-3 leave days a month. The care can be arranged at the care receiver's home or a service home.
