Involuntary infertility affects around one in six couples trying to have a baby.
If you haven’t conceived after a year of trying, speak to a healthcare professional and consider further examinations. If you have or your partner has a medical condition that could affect your chances of getting pregnant, it's a good idea to get tested earlier.
You will need a doctor's referral for the examinations. We recommend attending the examinations together with your partner. You can get a referral from a health station or a private clinic.
Female couples and those wishing to become solo mothers can also apply for testing via the health station.
The testing is carried out in specialised health care at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS).
